Nonlinear behavior is prevalent in virtually all industries and applications as we try to model an output response as a function of one or more input factors. Often lower order approximations with linear terms, two factor interactions, and quadratic terms are sufficient to model the systems. However, there are times when we want to use the underlying physics or functional relationships to better represent overall behavior. This webinar will discuss some common methods and models used for nonlinear fits. We will demonstrate exponential growth/decay, sigmoid, logistic, pharmacokinetic, peak and other common models as well as experimental designs for nonlinear fits. Examples across multiple industries include topics such as modeling degradation/wear, stability, and crack growth. We will show the ease of implementation common data science software.
Webinar Goals
- Understand when to use nonlinear models
- Know the limitations of response surface models
- Appreciate the different types of nonlinear models
- Understand metrics to assess nonlinear model adequacy
- Be able to communicate results from nonlinear models
